The City of Liverpool College is excited to announce an opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Creative Arts and Fashion team. This position is based at our vibrant Arts Centre Campus on Myrtle Street, L7 7JA.

This role involves supporting the planning of learning, activities, and assessments, as well as contributing to the development of learning outcomes and achievement criteria. You will assist individuals or groups of learners across theory, practical, and workplace sessions to achieve their goals, delivering intervention strategies as agreed.

Additionally, you will support numeracy and literacy development, provide feedback on learner progress to teachers and assessors for continuous improvement, and promote the effective use of technology in sessions. Demonstrating and promoting effective learning behaviours, you will maintain professional communication with staff, learners, and stakeholders. Collaboration in planning learning interventions and transition activities is also key to this role.

Responsible to: Head of Creative Arts and Fashion

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the planning of learning, learning activities, and assessment
  • Contributing to the development of learning outcomes and achievement criteria
  • Supporting individuals or groups of learners to achieve their learning goals within theory, practical, and workplace sessions
  • Helping individuals or groups of learners to achieve their learning goals by delivering agreed intervention strategies
  • Helping individuals or groups of learners to achieve their learning goals by supporting numeracy and literacy development
  • Supporting the assessment of learning by feeding back learner progress to teachers and assessors so that future activities may be modified to more effectively meet learner needs
  • Supporting the effective use of technology within theory, practical, and workplace sessions
  • Promoting and demonstrating effective behaviours for learning
  • Liaising with all staff, learners, and stakeholders in a professional manner
  • Contributing to the planning of learning and learning interventions with relevant stakeholders
  • Contributing to the planning of transition and progression activities and events

Generic duties:

  • To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College Group ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of college life.
  • To take proactive responsibility for Health & Safety to ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are always maintained.
  • To comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • To support cross college activities as required the key enrolment and invigilation periods.
  • To understand roles and responsibilities around safeguarding all learners.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:

  • Level 2 qualification in Maths/numeracy and English/literacy
  • Good knowledge of ICT, able to support technology-based learning activities
  • Level 4 qualification e.g. Degree or equivalent
  • Previous experience in an educational environment
  • A personal ambition to develop and progress within Further Education

Desirable:

  • General awareness of safeguarding and equality, diversity, and inclusivity
  • Ability to build and form good relationships with learners across all college provision
  • Ability to utilise strategies to support learners in achieving learning goals
  • Ability to complete accurate learner records within college systems and specified timescales
  • Ability to provide detailed feedback regarding learner progress and achievement
  • Ability to encourage learners to interact with others and engage in activities led by a teacher
