Teaching Assistant: SEMH Support Lambeth
Location: Lambeth (near Brixton)
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Contract: Full-time Long-term
Pay: GBP100-GBP120 per day (dependent on experience)
Teaching Assistant Required to Support Pupils with SEMH Needs
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated inclusion team.
This Teaching Assistant role will involve supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them access learning, regulate their emotions and develop positive relationships within the classroom. The school has a strong pastoral ethos and is looking for someone who can provide consistency, patience and clear boundaries.
The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with the SENCO, class teachers and external professionals to implement tailored support strategies and promote positive outcomes for pupils.
Key Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant, You Will
- Provide one-to-one and small group SEMH support
- Build positive relationships based on trust and consistency
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
- Encourage confidence, resilience and independence
- Liaise with teaching staff to monitor progress and wellbeing

About You
The ideal Teaching Assistant will:
- Have substantial experience supporting children with SEN, particularly SEMH
- Be calm, resilient and confident managing challenging behaviour
- Understand trauma-informed and restorative approaches
- Be proactive, patient and highly organised
- Have a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils
