Teaching Assistant (Part-Time, Term-Time Only) – East Sussex Skills Academy (Secondary)
Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week (part-time, term-time only).
About the Role
We are seeking an inspired, passionate, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Alternative Provision school in East Sussex, supporting pupils in Year 9, 10, and 11.
Our school is currently in an exciting phase of development, specialising in a commissioning model for dual-registered pupils (those with support needs from their home schools). This role offers:

Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated and supportive team.
- Provide one-to-one and group support to Year 9, 10, and 11 pupils.
- Assist in engaging pupils positively, fostering resilience, and encouraging equity and inclusivity.
- Contribute to pupil welfare, behaviour management, and pastoral care.
- Help deliver a high-quality learning environment tailored to diverse needs.
- Support curriculum planning, classroom dynamics, and the school’s broader development objectives.
- Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed at all times.

Requirements & Criteria
Essential
✔ A passion for education and collaborative teamworking skills. ✔ High motivation, empathy, and patience for engaging with young people. ✔ Proactive approach to professional development. ✔ Commitment to whole-school safeguarding policies. ✔ Willingness to self-declare under the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018.
Desirable
✅ Experience in alternative or inclusive provision Settings. ✅ First Aid or mental health awareness training (highly desirable). ✅ Experience in supporting students with specific learning or behavioural needs.
Working Arrangements
- Salary: Full salary will be prorated (term-time only, no holidays pay out of term).
- Pattern: Part-time, 32.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday (term time).
- Start Date: 2nd September 2026.
Important Notes:
- Childcare Disqualification Checks: All applicants must declare if they have ever been disqualified from working with children. If disqualified, an Ofsted waiver application is required.
- DBS Enhanced Check: Mandatory for all staff.
