Teaching Assistant – 1 Year Fixed Term Contract
Tenbury High Ormiston Academy
About This Role
A place where children thrive, and purpose matters most
Tenbury High Ormiston Academy is a small, rural 11-16 academy nestled in North-West Worcestershire. Our students are happy, well-behaved, and proud of their school. This is a place where moral purpose drives everything we do—putting the child at the centre of every decision.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team. You’ll work closely with subject specialist teachers to provide high-quality in-class support, ensuring that our pupils achieve the best possible standards. The role also involves delivering targeted interventions to help pupils make strong progress.
Key details of the role:
- 1-year fixed-term contract
- 30 hours per week (term time only + training days)
Why this opportunity stands out:
This is more than a job—it’s a chance to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with special educational needs (SEN), supporting their academic achievement and personal development within a supportive and inclusive school community.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality classroom support, working collaboratively with subject teachers to enhance teaching and learning
- Deliver targeted interventions to help pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) or those eligible for SEND provision
- Assist in tailoring resources, adapting lessons, and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Support pupils’ social and emotional development while maximising academic progress
- Promote a positive and inclusive environment for all
Requirements
- A passion for supporting children with additional learning needs and a desire to work in a special educational setting
- Experience working in educational settings (desirable, though not mandatory)
- Familiarity with National Curriculum content and GCSE syllabuses
- Essential personal qualities: High expectations, kindness, empathy, and unwavering dedication
- Previous experience with SEN is desirable, but not required—atitude and commitment matter most

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
