Teaching Assistant

Location: NJC Points: 4 - 6 Salary: £13,266 to £13,689 actual per annum Hours: Term-time only (39 weeks/year, 22.66 hours/a week) Contract: Permanent, commencing ASAP


About the Role

Westbourne Academy is seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to support learning, build positive relationships with students, and contribute to a secondary Academy where diversity and innovation thrive.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and driven by a commitment to education
  • Patient, initiativeless flexible, and dedicated to fostering academic, social, and emotional progress
  • Committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student can flourish

A grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths is essential. While previous experience in education is desirable, it is not mandatory.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish supportive relationships with students, enhancing their confidence and attitude towards learning
  • Assist in the classroom to ensure individualised academic, social, and emotional development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to support and maximise student potential
  • Embrace creativity and innovation in pastoral and teaching approaches
