Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant – Wetherby Kensington Pre-Preparatory School
Role Summary
Wetherby Kensington is a two-form, non-selective, pre-preparatory school for boys from Reception to Year 3. It follows exactly the same curriculum and shares the same values and ethos as Wetherby School, and will be an integral part of the Wetherby Group of schools. Boys at Wetherby Kensington receive very high levels of academic education and pastoral care. Wetherby Kensington is part of the Alpha Plus Group of schools, one of the country’s leading educational groups.
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting teaching and learning. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support class teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive, and child-centred learning experiences
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and support progress
- Help create and maintain a stimulating, well-organised, and inclusive classroom environment
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development using supportive approaches
- Assist in Observing, recording, and sharing student progress with teaching staff
- Support pupils with additional learning needs where required
- Supervise pupils during break times, lunch, school trips, and events
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials, classroom displays, and resources
- Contribute to classroom routines, transitions, and day-to-day organisation
- Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and child protection policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Relevant experience working with children, ideally in a school or educational setting
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and professional conduct expectations in schools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
- A warm, patient, and proactive approach, with high expectations for pupil behaviour and engagement
- Flexibility and a collaborative mindset, with willingness to support across a range of classroom and school activities
- Ability to support learning effectively in both group and one-to-one settings, including behaviour and classroom management
- Experience in an international or diverse school environment (desirable)
- Additional language skills relevant to the school location (advantageous but not essential)
