Job Title: Teaching Assistant in Business and IT

Location: Highbury Campus

Salary: Actual £8,281.18 - £8,828.91, Full Time Equivalent £24,521.29 - £26,133.56 per annum

Hours of work: 12.5 Hours per week, 36 Weeks per year (Term Time only), Part-Time, Permanent, October 2026 Start

About The Role:

The Teaching Assistant for Business and IT will work closely with the Business and Computing team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will cover lessons as required. You will be given course plans and resources for any lessons that you are requested to cover. In addition to covering some lessons you will also be responsible for a wide range of administration tasks for the respective departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-prepared set work to whole class groups and support their work in the event of teaching staff absence
  • Carry out a range of administration tasks for the department, using college processes and systems
  • Deliver one to one and small group programmes to students who are in need of extra support or stretch and challenge, outside the classroom, as directed by the Curriculum Manager in conjunction with teaching staff.
  • To communicate concerns and news of progress to teachers and Curriculum Manager, on a regular basis, including at team meetings.
  • Supporting students with a range of barriers to learning to access the curriculum whilst encouraging the development of independent learning skills. At the direction of the teacher, work may include a range of tasks, relevant to the course and development of the student.
  • Assist in the preparation/adaptation of teaching and learning materials.
  • As experience develops, deliver pre-prepared set work to whole class groups and support their work in the event of teaching staff absence
  • Administrational duties for the department.

To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:

  • A good standard of basic education (Maths and English GCSE pass or equivalent)
  • 2 to 3 A Level passes or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • A level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or willing to work towards
  • Computer literate
