All about the role:
Whitesheet C of E Primary Academy is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Teaching Assistant (Term-time only) to join our friendly and supportive team on a maternity cover basis. The role is for 30 hours a week (0.68 FTE) and will be paid under grade DSAT2 to 3 (scale point 4-8) depending on experience. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children aged 4 to 11 years within our small, nurturing countryside school.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment in line with our Christian values.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality teaching and learning
- Work with individuals and small groups of pupils across the primary age range (4–11 years)
- Assist in the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and activities
- Provide support for pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND where required
- Promote positive behaviour and uphold the school’s values and ethos
- Help maintain a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for all pupils
- Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, and other school activities
- Contribute to monitoring and reporting on pupil progress
Person Specification:
Essential
- A patient, caring, and positive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable:
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3)
- Experience supporting pupils with additional or special educational needs
- Understanding of the primary curriculum
- Experience of working with children (preferably aged 4–11) in a school or similar setting
