Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant – Full-Time (Term Time Only)

Location: Stannard School, Dunstable

Salary: £21,257.48 – £23,232.69 Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September 2026 Benefits: Company Pension, Life Assurance, Employee Discount Scheme

Key Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant at Stannard School, you will:

  • Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (max. 6 pupils) to foster independence and progress
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons, ensuring inclusive delivery and positive learning outcomes
  • Report on progress/concerns and work collaboratively with other staff to meet pupils’ needs
  • Supervise pupils in non-classroom settings, including extra-curricular activities, school trips, and break/lunchtime
  • Contribute to lesson planning and classroom preparation
  • Set and mark tasks as appropriate, encouraging self-discipline and engagement
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils to nurture confidence and motivation

Requirements & Qualifications

Clear Passion for Education

  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable children and young people

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Basic education qualifications (ideally A-levels), with:
    • GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language & Mathematics
    • Sound IT proficiency
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant (preferred)
  • Workplace or educational experience with SEMH (Special Educational Needs & Mental Health)
  • Experience in behaviour management and strategies
  • Additional responsibility experience (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtime Supervision, School Yoga)
