Teaching Assistant – Nursery (Lunchtime Cover)

Contract Details

  • Type: Part-Time Temporary (Term-Time Only)
  • Salary: Grade 3: £25,583.00 pro rata (Actual Salary: £5,227.00)
  • Hours: 11:45am – 1:30pm daily (8.75 hours per week)

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Teaching Assistant to join our Nursery team, focusing on lunchtime supervision and support for our youngest learners.

This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who:

  • Loves working with two- and three-year-olds.
  • Is passionate about creating a safe, happy, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Nursery children during lunchtime, prioritising safety and wellbeing.
  • Support children with eating, promoting independence and positive table manners.
  • Use warm, consistent interactions to foster positive behaviour.
  • Organise age-appropriate play and activités pre- and post-lunch.
  • Collaborate with the Nursery team for smooth transitions during lunchtime.
  • Adhere strictly to safeguarding, health & safety, and behaviour policies.

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience working with children aged 2–3 years.
  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) or Early Years Level 3.
  • Ability to support pupils with additional needs, including SEND.

Desirable

  • A friendly, inclusive approach when working with children/colleagues.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork ability.
  • Professionalism, adaptability, and a "can-do" attitude.
  • Prior experience in educational or childcare settings.
