The Teaching Assistant Job
Join a dedicated team in a fantastic SEN school in Portsmouth as a Teaching Assistant specialising in Autism support. Your role will involve creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive by implementing tailored strategies to promote social skills, communication, and independence.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with class teachers to enhance pupil learning and attainment
- Support pupil independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion
- Provide personalised or small-group assistance to help students access the curriculum and enjoy sense of achievement
- Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and resource management
- Implement effective teaching strategies in line with the school’s approach to meet diverse needs, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
- Promote and facilitate inclusion by ensuring all students participate in learning and extracurricular activities
- Apply consistent behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe, orderly learning environment
- Support teachers in managing discipline, ensuring a peaceful and effective classroom dynamic
- Organise and manage teaching spaces and resources to maintain an engaging and secure environment
