Teaching Assistant – Part-Time Role (18 hours/week)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive Teaching Assistant to work collaboratively with the Class Teacher, enhancing student welfare, progress, and attainment. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to:
- Support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality instruction
- Assist students with specialist classroom needs, including social-emotional support and academic challenges
- Develop a passion for student-centred learning
- Innovate in small-group interventions outside the classroom based on individual needs
- Contribute to improved life chances for all students
The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, collaborative workspace—delivering both individualised support and collective classroom management.
What We’re Looking For
Core Skills & Attributes
- Passion for teaching and student development, especially in SEN (Special Educational Needs) mainstream settings
- Adaptability and resilience—the ability to think creatively and respond to changing learning needs on the fly
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across age groups, families, and colleagues
- Fluency in core academic subjects:
- Strong English and Mathematics ability (equivalent to a GCSE pass)
- Strong ICT proficiency, including both essential office-based and educational technology tools
- Empathy and emotional intelligence—calm, patient, and attuned to student welfare and behaviour needs
- Professional approachability—respectful, consistently positive, and relatable to young people
- Commitment to continual professional development and willingness to grow alongside the team

Key Details
- Start Date: September 2026
- Salary (AT Salary): £23,970 (Associate 2.2) Actual Starting Salary: £10,286.54 for 18 hours/week
- Contract Hours: 18 hours per week (over 4 days)
- Term-time only: 39 weeks per academic year
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Closing Date: Thursday 9th July at 9.30am
