Teaching Assistant (SEND)

Penk Valley Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an excellent Teaching Assistant (SEND) to work under the direction of the SENCO, supporting students with special educational needs to access learning, achieve their potential and develop independence.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Cognition and learning
  • Communication and interaction
  • Social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Sensory and/or physical needs

The role involves:

  • Collaborating closely with individual students and small groups
  • Adapting learning activities and implementing support strategies
  • Assisting teachers in delivering an inclusive curriculum
  • Supporting before school, during social times, and after school as needed
  • Promoting engagement, confidence, and positive outcomes
  • Supporting the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), SEND support plans, and targeted interventions
