Teaching Assistant (SEND) – Stoke by Nayland C of E Primary School
Location: Stoke by Nayland, Suffolk, CO6 4QY
Salary: £24,796 pro rata
Hours: 19.5 hours/week, 38 weeks/year Timings: Wednesday to Friday, 8.45am – 3.45pm
Contract: Fixed term for one year (with potential for permanent if the SEND class proves successful) Start date: September 2026

About the Role
The governors of Stoke by Nayland C of E Primary School are seeking a caring and nurturing Teaching Assistant to join their exciting new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) class, working under the direct guidance of the Key Stage 1 SENDCo.
As part of a professional team, you will support the High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in delivering a highly personalised curriculum based on the Small Steps model of the Sensory Curriculum (training provided if needed). The role focuses on setting up and delivering learning activities that meet the individual needs of children with the highest levels of support.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the SENDCo and HLTA to plan and implement flexible, inclusive learning experiences.
- Supporting children’s personal, social, and emotional development through responsive, child-led interactions.
- Modeling and embodying the school’s core values of Love, Courage, Compassion, and Truth.
- Facilitating a play-based learning environment that aligns with the needs of children with complex needs.
