Teaching Assistant: St. Albans
Full-Time Role, September Start, Specialist Autism School
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a newly opening specialist school in St. Albans which is seeking to appoint a team of enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant staff to join their team from September.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to support children aged 4 to 16 years with autism, speech, language and communication needs, developmental delay, and social development difficulties.
The successful Teaching Assistant will become part of a supportive team helping pupils achieve their full potential.
About The School
The St. Albans specialist school offers fantastic newly renovated facilities including:

- Therapy rooms
- Modern classrooms
- Excellent parking
Classes will be of 7-10 students with learning needs and you will be part of a team of 3-5 teaching assistant staff working under the direction of an experienced SEN teacher.
The Role: Teaching Assistant
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with their learning, communication, emotional regulation, and independence.

- Supporting classroom learning
- Working with pupils individually and in groups
- Supporting communication development
- Encouraging independence
- Helping create a positive learning environment
- Working alongside teachers and therapists
The Ideal Teaching Assistant
The School Is Looking For a Teaching Assistant Who
- Has experience supporting children or young people with special needs
- Understands autism or additional needs
- Has worked in a primary or special needs school setting as a teaching assistant
- Has a good basic knowledge of the EYFS and/or primary curriculum
- Has a positive, energetic attitude and a willingness to learn new skills
- Is caring, patient, and enthusiastic
- Wants to positively impact children's lives
- Experienced undertaking personal care tasks or willing to learn
- Knowledge of PECS and Makaton would be advantageous
