Job Details: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: North Somerset Salary: £193–£100 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications) Start Date: September 2026
About the Role
Connex Education is seeking dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support pupils in primary schools across North Somerset, especially within the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT) and other local schools.
This meaningful role involves providing personalised one-to-one support to an individual pupil, helping them access their learning, develop confidence, and reach their full potential—both academically and socially. You’ll collaborate with class teachers, SENCos, and other educational staff to deliver tailored support aligned with each pupil’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalised one-to-one support to a pupil throughout the school day
- Support the pupil’s academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Adapt learning activities to suit the individual needs and abilities of the pupil
- Encourage engagement, participation, and independence in the classroom
- Implement strategies from support plans and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), where applicable
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
- Assist the pupil during transitions, breaktimes, and structured activities as needed

Person Specification
Experience working with children with additional needs helps but is not essential. Previous experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable individuals is desirable. StrongEFUL candidates should have:
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable in supporting learning
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Willingness or availability for an enhanced DBS check (Update Service)
