Teaching Assistant with Senior Lunchtime Supervisor Responsibilities
Location: Christ Church Primary School, Burton on Trent
Contract: Permanent, starting 1st September 2026
Hours: 35 hours and 50 minutes per week (term-time only), including lunchtime supervision Salary: Grade 4 – £25,583 to £25,989 per annum (pro rata)
About the Role
At Christ Church Primary School and Nursery, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant (Level 3) with senior lunchtime supervision responsibilities to join our team. In this role, you will:
- Provide high-quality support to children in the classroom, ensuring no child is left behind.
- Help deliver structured learning, including guided reading sessions and contributions to Individual Education, Behaviour and Support (IEBS) plans.
- Assist with planning, assessment, and accurate pupil progress recording.
- Offer pastoral support—helping pupils with their personal well-being, first aid, and emotional needs.
- Supervise pupils before, during, and after school meals, ensuring safety, engagement, and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with the Headteacher and assistants to maintain high standards of behaviour and achievement.
- Accompany pupils on visits, activities, and out-of-class provision.
- Use ICT skills to enhance learning and build pupils’ confidence with technology.
- Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in every child.

About You
We are looking for an individual who:
- Has a genuine passion for supporting young children in their learning.
- Is patient, caring, and proactive, with a positive attitude toward pupils.
- Holds a Level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in supporting teaching and learning.
- Has experience with children with additional needs, including those with communication challenges.
- Understands the primary curriculum and can adapt support accordingly.
- Thrives as part of a collaborative team, valuing teamwork and trust.
- Possesses strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Maintains high expectations for pupil progress and behaviour.
