Teaching Assistant – Shortlanesend School
About the School
Our school is situated in the village of Shortlanesend, two miles north of Truro City in Cornwall. It is a thriving, happy school where everyone is valued and respected.

Position Details
Role Title: Teaching Assistant
- Hours: 24.5 hours per week (term-time only, plus 2 INSET days)
- Schedule: Mon–Fri (08:30am–01:00pm), plus one afternoon per week
- Contract Type: Fixed-term (until August 2027)
- Interview Date: 17th July 2026

Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality support to teachers, enhancing the learning experience for children
- Assist with classroom management and engagement activities
- Help maintain a nurturing, inclusive, and safe environment for all pupils
- Collaborate with staff to implement interventions and дополнительные Educational Needs (SEN) strategies
- Carry out assigned administrative and organisational tasks as required by the school
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience or willingness to work with children within an educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check requirement (mandatory for appointment)
Desirable:
- Teaching Assistant (TA) qualification (or equivalent)
- Familiarity with the Cornwall Council education curriculum
- Experience working with special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning support
