Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Manor Wood School, Bishopsworth, Bristol, BS13 8AG
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8:30am–4:30pm
Salary: £23,638.00 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: March 2026

About the Role
Manor Wood School is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic staff team. This is a brilliant opportunity to make a genuine impact on the lives of children with additional needs — every single day. As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers to support individual pupils and small groups, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their goals. You’ll be a vital part of the classroom, offering hands-on support, encouragement and positive role modelling.
You’ll build strong relationships, promote independence, support emotional wellbeing, and help create a positive learning environment where every child feels valued, understood and inspired. This is a role full of variety, purpose and joy — no two days are ever the same!
Key Responsibilities
- Support individual pupils and small groups across the curriculum
- Deliver personalised learning and behaviour support programmes
- Prepare resources and equipment
- Record pupil progress and important information
- Encourage positive behaviour, social skills and self-esteem
- Supervise pupils throughout the school day, including lunchtime
- Accompany pupils on external trips and educational visits
- Support classroom organisation and displays
- Attend training, meetings, and contribute to whole-school improvement
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families

Who We Are Looking For
Experience and Skills:
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English & Maths
- Basic IT skills
- A team player with a flexible, can-do attitude
- Able to build strong, supportive relationships with children
- Confident, resilient and proactive
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- High expectations for pupil progress and behaviour
- Willingness to undertake training and develop professionally
