Job Description: Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs)
Job Details
- Hours: 30 hours per week (part-time, term-time only)
- Working pattern: Monday to Friday (8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.), plus inset days, covering 39 weeks per year (including 6.05 weeks of annual leave, which increases after 5 years' service)
- Salary: £17,642 to £17,921 per year (pro rata, Single Status, Staff Nurse Grade 4, spinal points 9 to 10 — equivalent to £25,185 to £25,583 full-time)
- Fixed term: September/October 2026 – July 2027 (renewable beyond July 2027 upon review)
- Closing date: 13th July 2026 (by 9:00 AM)
- Interviews: Week commencing Monday 13th July 2026

Governors are seeking Teaching Assistants (TAs) to join the main school site, specialising in supporting students with:
- Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Preferable: Dyslexia and/or Speech and Language difficulties
- Advantageous: Experience/supporting students with Maths difficulties (but not essential).
Roles & Responsibilities
The Teaching Assistant (TA) will:
- Provide dedicated individual and small-group support to students across the school, particularly those with SEN
- Work closely with classroom teachers to implement personalised learning plans
- Monitor progress, aid communication issues, and support confidence-building exercises
- Ensure compliance with the school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy (full details available on request)
Person Specification & Requirements
✔ Supporting students with Dyslexia and/or Speech-Language/Learning Disabilities is a strong preference ✔ Elementary experience or qualification in Mathematics (not mandatory but ideal) ✔ Ability to create engaging and adaptable learning environments ✔ Enthusiasm for a communal, values-based education focused on pastoral care
