Teaching Fellow in Early Modern Literature
The Role and Department
The Department’s undergraduate curriculum is renowned for its historical and cultural breadth, comprising compulsory modules in Theory, Shakespeare, and an independent Dissertation, alongside period-based modules taught via lectures, tutorials, and research-led seminars.
The Department also hosts thriving MA programmes in:
- English Literary Studies
- Creative Writing And maintains a vibrant community of PhD students.
The Position
Applications are invited for a Teaching Fellow in Early Modern Literature. This is a 1.0 FTE, 12-month fixed-term opportunity (not anticipated to be extended beyond the fixed term).

- Teach undergraduate tutorials in Introduction to Drama (Level 1)
- Lead seminars on John Milton (Level 2)
- Potentially contribute to teaching on Renaissance Literature and/or Shakespeare
- Deliver associated lectures as required
- Supervise Level 3 undergraduate dissertations
- Potentially oversee MA theses
- Engage in dynamic, small-group in-person teaching
- Assess and examine undergraduate and MA student work, particularly in Early Modern Literature
- Act as an Academic Advisor for a cohort of undergraduates
- Participate in Department meetings where appropriate
- Pursue opportunities for academic and professional development
