Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Teaching Fellows in Initial Teacher Education to join our vibrant, creative academic community in the School of Education.
Each post holder will be responsible for:
- Contributing to the teaching and learning of Primary Initial Teacher Education programmes.
- Serving as Academic Tutors to assess and support Bath Spa Teachers (BST) both in university and on placement.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver teaching, assessment, academic tutoring, and administrative duties for the BA Primary Education (5-11) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) programme.
- Work collaboratively with Programme Directors and Programme Leaders to ensure the success of the School’s ITE Partnership Curriculum (Primary).
- Enhance the experience of Bath Spa Teachers (BST), contribute to student recruitment, and participate in mentor leadership team.
- Support trainees in understanding child progression within the Early Years Foundation Stage, KS1, and KS2.
- Strategies for teaching primary science or primary PE would be highly beneficial.
- Assess and tutor trainees for academic awards and professional recommendation of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

About You
Key Requirements
- A strong first degree in a relevant discipline and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Proven experience as a primary school teacher.
- In-depth knowledge of learning pedagogy and practice in primary education.
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, communication, and IT skills.
- Familiarity with Initial Teacher Education standards and requirements.
- Preference given to applicants with teaching experience in primary science or PE.
- Mentoring experience with trainee teachers or Early Career Teachers ECTs, including understanding developmental support needs.
- Background/opportunity in Initial Teacher Education or Higher Education.
- Awareness of current issues in learning and teaching in Initial Teacher Education.
Additional Information
- The salary Grading is Ac2, with a starting point of £38,784, rising to £43,482 per annum (excl. annual inflationary increases).
- Candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring service check.
- Interviews will take place online on Thursday 6th August 2026.
- Immediate start preferred, but likelihood of availability should be confirmed at interview.
