Teaching Fellow in Interior Architecture and Design
** fixed-term, one-year position**
The School of Architecture, Art and Design at the University of Portsmouth seeks an ambitious and collaborative Teaching Fellow in Interior Architecture and Design.
About the Role
You will contribute to teaching, assessment, student support, module leadership, and curriculum development for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a studio-based creative environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and delivering studio-based teaching
- Supporting student learning and Wellbeing
- Assessing student work as part of Formative and Summative Assessment
- Developing and delivering innovative teaching materials
- Collaborating on programme and curriculum enhancement projects
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Architecture or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
- At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience in Interior Architecture/Design (or related field)
- Strong portfolio of studio-based teaching or project management
- Excellent academic writing, communication, and organisational skills
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices
- Ability to work across undergraduate and postgraduate levels

Desirable:
- Qualification in Higher Education/Academic Practice (HEA Fellowship or equivalent)
- Active involvement in research or professional practice in Interior Architecture
- Experience as a module leader or curriculum designer
- Membership of a professional body (RIBA, ARB, the Association of Collegiate Only Surveyors)
Working Arrangements
- Full-time role advertised, but part-time applications encouraged (job sharing also considered).
- Primarily on-site in Portsmouth with hybrid working options when required.
- Fixed-term contract (to 31 August 2027).

Ultra-Low Carbon Wedges (ULCWs) Requirement: Applicants must comply with the University’s ULCWs requirement either at the commencement of the appointment or within a time-limited extension, following a genuine attempt at compliance.

Salary: New appointments start at the entry spine point within the UCLAS 8-32 grade. Exceptional candidates may have considerations for a starting bonus.
