Teaching Fellow in Marketing and Strategy (x2)

Salary & Terms

  • Grade 7: £39,906 – £46,049 per annum
  • Location: Leicester

About the Role

The University of Leicester is recruiting two Teaching Fellows in Marketing and Strategy within the School of Business. This position involves:

  • Contributing to established undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including both on-campus and distance learning
  • Designing, delivering, and assessing modules, ensuring alignment with academic standards and curriculum innovation
  • Providing lectures, seminars, and online teaching, alongside pastoral support for student development and feedback
  • Collaborating with module and programme leaders to enhance teaching quality, assessment strategies, and module evaluation
  • Engaging with teaching technologies, developing e-learning resources, and supporting institutional initiatives like student recruitment and graduation events
  • Participating in academic administration, including examination panels and departmental committees
  • Adhering to professional development and research-led teaching expectations

The role offers flexibility, collegial collaboration, and the opportunity to shape the instructional culture of the department under supervisory reporting to the Head of School.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Learning

    • Lecturing, tutoring, and leading seminars in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Strategy, Consumer Behaviour, Operations Management, Business Analytics, and AI
    • Developing module content, assessment criteria, and timely feedback to support student engagement and success
  • Curriculum & Innovation

    • Contributing to new course development and align curriculum updates with industry trends and academic research
    • Exploring pedagogical innovation, tech-enhanced learning, and adaptive teaching methods

  • Student Support

    • Offering mentorship and pastoral care tailored to diverse learner needs
    • Promoting continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness through peer observation, student surveys, and self-reflection
  • Leadership & Collaboration

    • Working closely with the Head of School, module leads, and academic teams
    • Representing the School of Business at faculty and university-wide initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements

  • PhD in progress, complete, or nearly complete in a relevant discipline (e.g., Marketing, Strategy, Consumer Research, Data Analytics), or equivalent professional experience (e.g., research appointments, senior industry roles)
  • Strong commitment to growing expertise through pursuing a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Advanced HE Fellowships)
  • A deeper knowledge combining two or more of these areas: marketing, digital marketing, strategy and innovation, consumer behaviour, operations management, business analytics, and machine learning/AI applications
  • Outstanding ability to:
    • Simplify and communicate complex subject matter clearly to diverse audiences
    • Use movies, case studies, technology (e.g., LMS platforms like Moodle, Panopto), and interactive tools effectively -Generate inspired and inclusive lectures/seminars that balance academic rigour and accessibility
  • Exceptional organisation skills, ability to manage workload effectively, and clear time- and task-management
  • Collaborative ethos and enthusiasm for:
    • Peer teaching and quality enhancement
    • Student-centred pedagogies
    • Interdisciplinary inquiry where necessary
