About the Role

Applications are invited for a 2-year fixed-term position as a Teaching Fellow in Politics and International Studies (International Security) in the Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS) at the University of Warwick, commencing 1 September 2026. The role sits at FA6 salary level.

We seek an exceptional and inspirational teacher who:

  • Excels in delivering high-quality, research-led learning in Politics and International Studies.
  • Demonstrates pride and dedication to teaching.
  • Is willing to lead as a Module Director and adapte teaching approaches to diverse student needs.

Key Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate taught (PGT) modules, including:
    • Introduction to Politics
    • World Politics
    • Political Research in the 21st Century
    • Specialist modules on International Security (prioritising flexibility)
    • Middle East region modules, with potential for new course development.
  • Supervise UG and PGT dissertations to university standards.
  • Have the capacity to lead in teaching innovation, including integration of e-learning.
  • Engage with equal opportunity and teaching excellence initiatives (e.g., methodologies reflective of diverse student experience).

Research Support

The role comes with structured research development, enabling academic growth within the department’s framework.

About You

Qualifications & Expertise

  • Honours-degree (or equivalent) in Politics and International Studies (or related discipline) must be completed.
  • PhD (or equivalent) in or near completion, preferably aligned to the specialism.
  • Unparalleled ability to:
    • Deliver research-led teaching across levels (UG/PGT).
    • Adapt teaching for inclusive and innovative outcomes (e.g., tech integration, pedagogy).
    • Engage critically with equal opportunity in teaching/learning environments.
