Role Overview
Given our exciting and progressive growth plans, we are looking for an exceptional hands-on Team Lead to join our global business.
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, and collaborating closely with the Product Manager and Staff Engineer, you will be accountable for:
- The technical vision, strategy, planning and coordination of engineering projects at Fresha
- Proactively managing technical risks
- Ensuring team performance (e.g. adherence to processes, reliability of estimates, proactive communication, well-architected code)
As a line manager, you will also be responsible for your team members’ growth and development.

Work Arrangement
To foster a collaborative environment, Fresha employees work from our dog-friendly office four days per week, with flexibility to work remotely on one day. London office address: The Bower, 207-211, Old St, Tower, London EC1V 9NR
Key Responsibilities
Team Management & Support
- Set ambitious yet achievable goals for the engineering team while maintaining high technical standards
- Ensure the team has a clear understanding of responsibilities and expectations
- Mentor and provide technical guidance, leveraging deep expertise in system design and coding
- Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for your team
- Lead by example in following engineering best practices
- Make systemic trade-offs with respect to the entire business architecture
Priorities & Process
- Collaborate with the team to identify and address process inefficiencies, leveraging expertise in architectural and design decisions
- Ensure the timely delivery of projects, which directly impact Fresha’s success
- Actively contribute code, fix bugs, and resolve issues to drive team progress
- Develop a deep understanding of the architecture for major parts of the business
- Articulate scaling limits and reliability considerations clearly
Bonus Responsibilities
- Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training employees to ensure alignment with engineering quality standards
- Track and analyse performance metrics for the team and functional area
- Support the Head of Engineering in executing ad-hoc projects, anticipating technical issues and making strategic decisions

What We’re Looking For
This is a highly technical and hands-on role requiring:
- Proven experience in system design, full-stack development, and architecture, with a track record of shipping large-scale systems across multiple programming languages
- Ability to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in workflows and technical processes
- Strength in breaking down complex problems into solvable components to deliver fast resolutions
- Expertise in designing scalable architectures capable of accommodating future needs

Interview Process
The hiring process is structured as follows:

Screen Call
- Video call with Talent Team (~45-60 minutes)

1st Stage
- Technical Interview (in-person or video call, ~90 minutes)

2nd Stage
- Advanced Technical Discussion (in-person or video call, up to 2 hours)

Final Stage
- Meet with Head of Engineering & VP of Engineering (~60 minutes)
We aim to complete the entire process and provide feedback within 4 weeks.
