Role Overview

As a Manufacturing Team Leader, the individual is responsible for managing daily operations on the production floor. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Supervising and leading a team of manufacturing personnel in a high-volume production environment.
  • Ensuring the team adheres to production schedules and deadlines.
  • Monitoring production standards and quality control measures.
  • Training new team members and ensuring that all team members are competent in their roles.
  • Maintaining accurate records of production data, including volume produced, materials used, and any deviations from standard processes.
  • Implementing continuous improvement strategies to enhance production efficiency and safety.
  • Enforcing strict safety guidelines and company standards.

  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure equipment availability, raw material supply, and timely completion of production targets.
  • Conducting regular team meetings to communicate targets, strategies, and company news.
  • Assisting in the development of budgets for the manufacturing department.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and initiating projects aimed at lowering costs and improving quality.
  • Evaluating team performance and providing feedback and coaching to improve productivity and product quality.

Education and Certification Requirements

To qualify for the role of Manufacturing Team Leader, candidates must typically meet several educational and certification requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Production Technician (CPT), Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing can be advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
