Team Leader - Bedford House

Team Leader (Adults & Public Health Directorate)

Contract Type: 1 year fixed-term with possibility of extension

Employing Organisation: Adults & Public Health Directorate


About the Role

The Adults & Public Health Directorate is seeking a Team Leader to develop and manage a unit that provides high-quality care to service users. Under the guidance of the Registered Manager, the Team Leader will:

  • Provide managerial support to a team of:
    • Residential support workers
    • Care assistants
    • Domestic staff
    • Cooks
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and supervision of residential, respite, or supported living schemes within in-house residential services.
  • Foster an environment where service users can develop skills at their own pace and achieve their full potential in areas of social, emotional, and developmental growth.
  • Ensure community integration through appropriate and inclusive approaches.
  • Deliver direct care to service users.
  • Lead staff shifts and assist the Registered Manager in:
    • Performance management
    • Care planning (formulating care plans and risk assessments in line with Harrow Policy)
    • Staff rotation planning, monitoring, and supervision

About You

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate:

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Familiarity with:
    • The Health and Social Care Act 2008 and its application in service delivery.
    • Community Care Legislation and its impact on services and service users.
  • Expertise in efficient resource management, particularly:
    • Personnel operations.
    • Budget oversight.
  • Ability to:
    • Plan, organise, and monitor work for a diverse staff team.
    • Conduct risk assessments for service, staff, and service users.
    • Recognise and address the developmental needs (social, emotional, and physical) of adults with severe learning disabilities.
    • Chair and minute meeting proceedings.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with adults who have disabilities.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a residential support worker (shift leader) or equivalent role.
  • 2+ years experience providing services to individuals with:
    • Severe learning disabilities.
    • Physical disabilities.
    • Autism.
    • Challenging needs.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of N.V.Q. Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent qualification.
