Job Description
Do you want to drive forward the Circular Economy, influence future legislation, and reduce waste crime?
Can you lead a team of experts to really make a difference in how we manage waste in the UK and help deliver the Resources and Waste Strategy?
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Waste, Resources & Movement Team and lead a team who are driving work in Hazardous Waste and Carriers, Brokers & Dealers for the Environment Agency.
You will need to be enthusiastic, well-organised and able to lead, inspire and develop others.
You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to build relationships with dispersed networks.
As well as leading your own team you will also support cross-cutting work, setting the standards for leadership across the department in areas such as health, safety and wellbeing, performance management, business and workforce planning.

The team
The Waste, Resources & Movement Team is in the Waste & Resources Regulation function, which sits in the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate.
E&B uses evidence, expertise and innovation to enhance delivery, influence policy, legislation and secure resources.
The Waste, Resources & Movement Team is focused on shaping waste legislation. We ensure legislation is fit for purpose for regulators, operators, and everyone governed by the regulations.
We set strategic direction, write guidance and operational instructions.
Experience/skills Required
enthusiastic - able to build positive team spirit and inspire others ability to build trusting and respectful working relationships deliver timely results through others able to work flexibly and independently, ‘owning’ your role, initiating tasks and organising a complex workload effective communications – written and verbal use innovative ways of working works on own initiative as part of a dispersed team make the best use of available resources to deliver outcomes able to anticipate and manage risk experience of working within regulation, ideally waste regulation or another area of environmental legislation is desirable but not essential
