Job Description

DD-Scientific is a dynamic and fast-growing manufacturer of life-saving products used in safety applications worldwide. People across the globe rely on our technology every day to protect them against the hazards of flammable and toxic gases in their workplace. Whether they want to know if there is enough oxygen to breathe underground, or too much hydrogen sulphide in a steel works, more and more safety-conscious organizations are switching to our gas sensors to give them this vital information.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a hands-on Laser Department Team Leader responsible for delivering production targets while maintaining quality standards and operational efficiency. The role combines leadership and machine operation, ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the department.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily production targets
  • Monitor workflow and minimize downtime
  • Ensure efficient machine utilisation
  • Operate laser machinery as required
  • Carry out machine setups and changeovers
  • Troubleshoot minor issues and escalate where necessary
  • Lead and support a small team, allocating work and managing priorities
  • Provide guidance and maintain team performance
  • Perform in-process quality checks, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards
  • Identify and address defects quickly
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Reduce waste and improve right-first-time performance
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Ensure compliance with H&S procedures
  • Uphold good housekeeping (5S)

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with laser drilling or similar equipment
  • Previous team leader or supervisor experience
  • Strong practical and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of quality and production processes
