Team Leader, Manufacturing Operators

Senior Manufacturing Team Leader – MedTech Cleanroom

Environmental Conditions:

Cleanroom compliance required: No hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, or exposed piercings allowed. Facial hair must be contained where specified.

This is a critical Senior Manufacturing Team Leader role within a high-quality, ISO-certified (ISO 13485, ISO 18385, ISO 9001) facility. The successful candidate will lead a team of manufacturing operators, ensuring smooth production flow, adherence to regulatory standards, and a safe, collaborative team environment.


Position Summary

A dynamic and action-oriented leader responsible for:

  • Setting operational excellence standards by demonstrating best practices within a lean manufacturing framework.
  • Optimising manufacturing schedules while ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with ISO, GxP, and cGMP guidelines.
  • Empowering team growth through mentorship, skill development, and ongoing training.
  • Minimising risks and maintaining employee well-being through proactive safety leadership and COSSH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) adherence.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead by example in a collaborative manufacturing team, driving continuous performance improvement and fostering employee engagement.
  • Support personal development by identifying training needs and facilitating competency-based growth through SFLMS (System for Fleet Operational Monitoring) approval processes.
  • Specify requirements for training to maximise team proficiency and ensure compliance with standards.

Operational Excellence & Problem-Solving

  • Review manufacturing schedules and workload to align production with customer demands and departmental priorities.
  • Resolve operational issues efficiently to minimise delays and escalate unresolved problems to senior management.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to diagnose and rectify breakdowns, reducing production downtime.

Lean & Process Improvement

  • Champion Process Performance Indicator (PPI) initiatives and lean manufacturing principles to continuously improve processes.
  • Use available operational tools to enhance process efficiency across production lines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support new product introductions (NPIs) by overseeing the transfer of new products into manufacturing.
  • Ensure all personnel are adequately trained prior to production start-ups.
  • Facilitate smooth onboarding of new operators, enhancing the employee experience.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Investigate and document Production Reports (PRs) in Trackwise, leading corrective action investigations (CAPA) to prevent compliance lapses.
  • Monitor and maintain **Serious Failures/**Customer Impact Reviews (SFLMs) to address non-conformance issues swiftly.
  • Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in OCPLM to reflect process improvements and new product standards.

Safety & Environmental Commitments

  • Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols, waste handling regulations, and cleanroom hygiene.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe manufacturing environment to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Conduct work in line with COSSH assessments, including hazardous waste management.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Proven experience in manufacturing (preferably in Cleanroom/GMP environments).
  • Ability to manage priorities independently, balancing workloads, and halting production when necessary for quality/safety.
  • Experience in demand planning and scheduling, with collaborative relationships in a planning organisation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to remove bottlenecks, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated time management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials safety (COSSH) and waste management processes.
