We now have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director / Team Leader of M&E Quantity Surveying to join the team in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Job Description

As Associate Director / Team Leader of M&E, you will be responsible for the following:

Project work

  • Ensuring the company values are promoted and maintained.
  • Being the interface for projects between the client, design team and the project delivery team to support successful delivery.
  • Ensuring efficient and timely implementation of project requirements and maintaining projects on time and on budget.
  • Ensuring adequate and timely communication channels are in place to support effective project delivery.
  • Management of appropriate design, programme and cost information to allow recommendations and support decision making.
  • Providing guidance on the most effective procurement approach to achieve project deliverables.
  • Managing a portfolio of clients (billing, relationship and engagement management).
  • Providing cost advice to clients when needed, for both project work and within relevant reports.
  • Providing accurate measures from consultant’s drawings.
  • Actively participating in the preparation of tender documents, ensuring a full and comprehensive understanding of the project requirements is conveyed and reflected in tender documentation.
  • Negotiating with contractors to ensure tender costs represent best value.
  • Review and commenting upon tender return
  • The preparation of contract documents.
  • Reviewing contractor’s variations.
  • Undertaking life cycle costs.
  • Undertaking valuations of the M&E services.
  • Reporting cost in a timely manner to the client.

General duties

  • Overseeing / reviewing / approving the work of sub-consultants or junior members of staff in a positive and constructive manner, as may be required for the delivery of project appointments.
  • Generally representing Egis in a professionally competent and positive manner, ensuring service quality and integrity is maintained to the highest possible standards.
  • Reporting to the client and other stakeholders in line with the client’s requirement with company standards.
  • New business development - consistently pursuing meetings with clients, prospects and referral sources to get new business.
  • Actively seeking opportunities to cross-sell additional services to existing clients.
  • Supporting the learning and development of all QS team staff related to M&E specific activities.
  • Leading, supervising and coordinating the work of junior M&E QSs allocated to projects.
  • Allocating tasks appropriately, providing clear direction, checking outputs for quality and consistency.
  • Acting as the first point of escalation for technical or delivery issues within the team.
  • Undertaking team member reviews.
  • Support the QS North management team with fee management directly related to M&E commissions.

Delivering great client experience

You will build strong, professional relationships with clients, consultants and contractors. In this context, the role will involve:

  • Representing Egis at project meetings with clients, designers and contractors to provide advice on all aspects of project assignments and following up on actions assigned to Egis.
  • Communicating clearly, concisely and coherently with the client and other consultants regarding information required for the purpose of performing our services.
  • Identifying risks and issues with ongoing activities and positively identifying mitigation measures in a way that both protects the interests of the client, Egis and any other relevant stakeholders.
  • Exhibiting high level of technical skill so that once you have finished a client project, no one else needs to review it.
  • In doing all of this, you will fully reflect our culture and values; confident, honest, responsible, supportive.

Qualifications

Suitable candidates will be / have:

  • A distinguished expert in at least one service or industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of M&E systems.
  • Proven ability to complete technical projects with minimal assistance from others.
  • Demonstrate contract administration experience across a range of projects and successful delivery of them.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of different tender options.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of different contracts.
  • CADMeasure skills.
  • CATO skills.
  • Accurate and excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable involvement and good working relationships with several clients.
  • Able to instil positivity in junior members of the team through support and encouragement, recognising different team members may require a different approach.
  • Able to manage multiple projects - prioritising and co-ordinating tasks efficiently to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • A team player who deals effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Confident and assertive where required.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Good role model for junior members of the team.
  • Experienced in supervising of staff.
  • Able and willing to develop others.
