Team Leader – Patient Administration Team - Surgical Bookings

Band 5 Team Leader – Patient Administration Team

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Team Leader to join our Patient Administration Team within the Access Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrative professional with:

  • Strong knowledge of RTT (Ready, Willing and Able) pathways
  • Expertise in surgical bookings and related operational processes

About the Role

The post holder will:

  • Supervise a team of administrative staff within a high-impact contact centre environment
  • Oversee daily workload management to ensure:
    • Theatre Lists are completed accurately and punctually
  • Lead by example—acting as the face of professionalism within the Team
  • Play a critical role in meeting KPIs and maintaining service standards, which directly enhances patient care

Key Focus Areas:

Patient Experience & Service Excellence

  • Ensure consistent customer care standards throughout all interactions
  • Embed a culture that values patient feedback and uses it to drive service improvement
  • Support a learning environment where staff can enhance their skills and confidence

Operational Leadership & Accountability

  • Produce and distribute regular performance reports and management information (e.g., slot utilisation, document management, referral vetting processes)
  • Chair team meetings, propose actionable discussions, and record minutes as required
  • Drive regular one-to-ones (121s) and team briefings
