Application Deadline: 24 July 2026
Department: Operations
Location: Perth
Compensation: £16.00 / hour
Description
This role has been created as part of the continued expansion of the Perth site, driven by an increase in Small Domestic Appliance (SDA) tonnage being processed.
To support this growth, additional pre-pick shifts have been introduced, requiring enhanced supervision and coordination to maintain safe and efficient operations.
As a Pre-Pick Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of pre-pick operations, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant sorting of Small Domestic Appliances (SDA) and associated materials. You will support a team of operatives to ensure consistent material flow into processing areas, maintaining quality standards and minimising contamination.
This role plays a key part in delivering production targets, health & safety compliance, and operational efficiency, supporting overall site performance and sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Supervision: Support and coordinate pre-pick operatives to ensure safe and effective operations across the shift.
- Operational Oversight: Monitor pre-pick lines to ensure correct sorting and segregation of SDA materials and efficient feed into downstream processes.
- Productivity & Targets: Manage daily output, ensuring team performance aligns with site targets and operational requirements.
- Quality Control: Ensure materials are accurately identified and segregated, reducing contamination and supporting downstream processing efficiency.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
- Promote a strong safety culture across the team
- Ensure adherence to safe systems of work
- Report and escalate any hazards, near misses or incidents
- Training & Development: Support the onboarding and ongoing training of operatives, ensuring competency in roles and safe working practices.
- Shift Coordination: Allocate tasks and manage workflow across the team to maintain productivity and minimise downtime.
- Communication: Act as a key link between operatives and site management, providing updates on performance, issues and operational improvements.
- Housekeeping: Ensure pre-pick areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, organisation and safety.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
