Team Leader – Person-Centred Service Delivery

About the Role

Job Purpose

To lead and direct a team in developing and delivering person-centred services.

  • Manage resources effectively to achieve service user and contract outcomes.
  • Foster staff skills and knowledge in delivering services tailored to individual needs.
  • Apply person-centred planning, review, and team development.
  • Embed a quality assurance framework at a service level.

Principal Accountabilities

Service Delivery & Outcomes

  • Uphold person-centred principles across all operations.
  • Lead assessment, planning, monitoring, and review of support for individuals.
  • Ensure accurate data capture, reporting, and analysis.

Team Leadership & Performance

  • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure high performance and quality standards.
  • Leverage staff strengths and ensure tasks align with individual expertise.
  • Direct recruitment, induction, and deployments of team members.

Resource & Financial Management

  • Coordinate staff to meet budgets and service demands.
  • Collaborate with the Area Manager on resource allocation.

Professional Development & Compliance

  • Foster a customer-focused culture with strong working relationships externally.
  • Provide supervision, appraisals, and on-the-job support for staff.
  • Identify and fulfil training and development needs.
  • Host productive team meetings focused on growth and quality.
  • Promote best practices and compliance with company policies, procedures, and legislation.

Essential Criteria

Experience

  • Significant experience in:
    • Person-centred planning and review.
    • Supporting individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
    • People management.
    • Leading and managing team operations.
    • Conducting staff supervisions and appraisals.
    • Partnership working.
    • Resource management within budgets.
    • IT systems for service and people management.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of equality, anti-discrimination, and inclusive strategies.
  • Proficient time management with ability to plan and prioritise complex demands.
  • Skills to drive person-centred practices and inspire the team.
  • Expertise in assessing, planning, and monitoring care to achieve individualised outcomes.
  • Strong ability to engage stakeholders (service users, families, carers) in trusting relationships.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication.
  • Extensive understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities or mental health conditions.
  • Competency in leading teams, implementing person-centred tools, and adhering to policies.
  • Demonstrates initiative, resilience, and resourcefulness.
  • Skilled in ICT for data, performance reporting, and communication.

Qualifications & Training

  • NVQ Level 3 in Management or Care (or equivalent).
  • Training in person-centred planning, review, and team development.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to adapt to flexible hours, including:
    • On-call duties.
    • Working 7 days/week, including weekends and unsociable hours.
