Your Role
- Lead shifts and support the team to deliver high-quality care in line with individual care plans
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to residential care staff
- Oversee and contribute to the development and review of care plans, ensuring consistent, trauma-informed care
- Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with daily operations and home standards
- Promote safeguarding and ensure all procedures are followed and concerns addressed
- Build strong relationships with professionals, families, and external agencies
- Support the training, mentoring, and development of new and existing staff
- Contribute to home maintenance, records, budgets, and reporting systems
Essential
About The Role
- At least 1 year of experience in residential childcare
- Strong understanding of child development and trauma-informed practice
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards completion)
- Excellent planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and relevant legal frameworks
- Ability to lead by example, act as a role model and maintain professional boundaries
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Resilient, motivated, adaptable, and calm under pressure
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins
- Full UK driving licence

Desirable
- Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role
- Knowledge of residential childcare regulations and quality standards
- Strong team management and leadership capabilities

Required Criteria
- Establish and monitor high quality standards of care in line with the Quality Standards for Children’s Homes 2015 Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and the home’s Statement of Purpose.
- Level 3 in Children and Young People Residential Care or Ofsted recognised equivalent qualification
- Ability to maintain and develop positive relationships with children, professionals and colleagues
- Remain inclusive to all children and young people and be committed to upholding and protecting the rights of individuals
- Flexibility around work location and start/finish times to ensure the contingencies of the service are covered.
- Ability to act as a positive role model demonstrating honesty and integrity
Desired Criteria
- To provide vision and leadership to staff, ensuring that effective systems are in place for workload allocation and management, and the application of the company’s policies and procedures, including those relating to equality, supervision and appraisal and all aspects of their performance, personal development, health and welfare
- Level 5 in Leadership and Management - undertaken the in industry of Residential Children's Home
- Support the Deputy Care Manager and the Registered Manager in ensuring that staffing levels, skills and competence meet the needs of the home and the young persons in placement
- Ensure that the plan for each child and young person reflects his/her care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs, and is consistently followed by the staffing team
