Team Leader - South East Water
Lead a field team making a real difference to water networks in Sussex
Purpose and Scope of the Role
Tetra Tech is seeking a Team Leader to support our Water Operations Division in Sussex. You will lead a field-based team of 8 to 10 Leakage Engineers and site staff, coordinating day-to-day delivery across leakage detection, inspection and reporting activities. Working closely with internal colleagues and client teams, you will help deliver safe, compliant and high-quality outcomes across complex operational work, while supporting performance improvement, customer service and accurate reporting. This is a permanent, full-time role, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30, with overtime, bonus, benefits, a company van and fuel card.
Your Impact in this Position
In the short term, you will build trusted relationships with site staff and support safe, efficient delivery in the field. In the medium term, you will help improve team performance through coaching, clear reporting and consistent standards. Longer term, this role offers a strong platform to develop leadership capability within a technically focused water environment, working on meaningful work that supports leakage reduction, flood prevention and environmental protection.

Core Capabilities
Leadership and Team Direction
You will lead, motivate and support a field team to deliver excellent service, technical quality and operational performance.
Health, Safety and Compliance
You will take ownership of risk assessment, incident reporting and H&S performance, ensuring safe working practices and compliance with approved procedures and the Integrated Management System.
Operational Delivery and Reporting
You will produce clear status updates, monitor progress, track performance and act promptly to resolve issues affecting delivery.
Coaching and Continuous Improvement
You will mentor field staff, identify trends and drive improvements in performance, quality and consistency.
Communication and Stakeholder Focus
You will communicate clearly with site staff, colleagues and clients, maintaining a strong customer service ethos and managing expectations professionally.
Qualifications And Training
Essential: Full UK driving licence.
Desirable: Experience in utilities, water distribution or a related operational environment.
Work Pattern and Location
This role is based in Sussex and requires regular travel across the South East Water patch. You will work mainly outdoors, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, nights and overtime where required. Hybrid or remote working is not suitable for this field-based position.
