AMHP Team Manager
Organisation: Leicestershire County Council
Work Location: County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester, LE3 8RA
Salary: Grade 13 – £49,221 to £53,826 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending | plus market premium subject to review)
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Role
Are you a passionate and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) looking for a leadership role where you can make a real difference?
We are seeking an AMHP Team Manager to join our dynamic Mental Health Service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to:
- CoLead and support a team of AMHPs
- Provide operational oversight and strategic direction alongside the current AMHP Manager
- Deliver out-of-hours support and mentorship to fellow professionals
- Oversee the Forensic Mental Health Team, ensuring:
- Robust coordination
- Effective risk management
- Strong multi-agency partnership working
- Ensure legally sound, person-centred, and outcome-focused practice across the mental health Act (MHA) framework
- Contribute to service development, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster staff wellbeing, professional growth, and reflective practice
Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:
- Deliver high-quality statutory practice standards.
- Drive service improvement and adaptability to evolving needs.

Forensic Mental Health Coordination:
- Oversee forensic pathways, ensuring seamless collaboration between mental health, social care, and criminal justice systems.
- Manage complex risk assessments and interventions.

Training & Development:
- Support AMHPs’ reflective practice through supervision and mentoring.
- Upskill the team in safeguarding, conflict resolution, and ethical decision-making.

Requirements

Essential Requirements:
- Qualifications and current approval (or commitment to re-approval within three months) as an AMHP.
- Extensive experience in community and forensic mental health, including risk assessment and management.
- Confident leadership skills, with the ability to mentor seniors while supporting junior colleagues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legislation, safeguarding frameworks, and collaborative working models.
- Passion for delivering high-quality care for individuals with complex mental health needs.
