BMR Solutions are working in partnership with a global engineering and technology manufacturer to recruit a Team Manager – Sustaining Electrical Engineering for their Bristol operation.
This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a team of talented electrical engineers supporting the full product lifecycle of highly engineered products used in demanding, high-technology industries. You'll combine people leadership with technical expertise, driving engineering excellence while ensuring products remain safe, reliable, compliant and cost-effective throughout their operational life.

The Role
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will lead, coach and develop a team of approximately six Sustaining Electrical Engineers. You will be responsible for delivering engineering support across the product lifecycle, from fault investigation and design improvements through to validation, release and ongoing product reliability.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, Project Management and customers, you'll ensure engineering changes are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with company standards.

Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of electrical engineers through coaching, mentoring, regular one-to-ones and performance reviews.
- Drive technical excellence and promote engineering best practice across the sustaining engineering function.
- Manage engineering work packages and coordinate activities across multiple cross-functional teams.
- Lead engineering change activities, including ECR/ECO processes, ensuring robust documentation and configuration control.
- Provide technical leadership during failure investigations, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensure engineering solutions are validated through appropriate verification and testing activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product performance, quality, reliability and cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with engineering governance, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
The Person
Applicants should ideally possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Significant experience within product design, sustaining engineering or product development in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and engineering best practice.
- Experience of engineering change management (ECR/ECO).
- Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, 8D, FMEA and CAPA methodologies.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating technical projects and cross-functional engineering activities.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration would be advantageous.
