Team Manager in Food – M&S (Marks & Spencer)

Responsibilities

  • Drive departmental performance—optimise trade, visual appeal, and service excellence under pressure
  • Lead the front line: Build and coach a motivated team, fostering a culture of high ambition and delivery
  • Ensure commercial success by using data-driven insights to inform decisions and improve profitability
  • Cultivate a people-first mentality, coaching team members, addressing performance challenges, and championing inclusion
  • Champion operational excellence, maintaining high safety, hygiene, and availability standards
  • Align with M&S’s retail innovation agenda, embedding digital tools and adaptive practices into daily service

Requirements

Must-haves:

  • Proven leadership in retail or customer-focused environments (team management experience in fast-paced settings)
  • Strong commercial instinct—confidence to analyse data, drive KPIs, and use insights to deliver results
  • Coaching and communication skills—ability to give direct, constructive feedback with empathy
  • Resilience and adaptability—energy to lead through change and inspire others amidst ambiguity
  • Digital proficiency—willingness to embrace new ways of working and leverage digital tools
  • Natural role model for M&S’s service culture, adherence to values, and inclusive behaviours
