The Role – Team Manager (Governing Body Services)
This key leadership position leads a team providing expert advice, guidance, and support to the governors of Local Authority Maintained schools. Your responsibilities will include:
✔ Ensuring governors are informed of key legislative and policy changes affecting governance. ✔ Liaising with senior Local Authority Officers to document challenges, opportunities, and governance trends across Nottinghamshire. ✔ Motivating and managing a team to deliver high-quality support to school governing bodies. ✔ Providing indispensable insights to senior officers on governance dynamics. ✔ Promoting best practices in education governance and supporting continuous professional development.
A self-motivated leader with strong knowledge of the education sector is crucial for this role.

Legislative & Policy Awareness
- Actively track changes in legislation and policy affecting school governance.
- Ensure the most recent guidance is shared with stakeholders.
Strategic Communication & Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between governors, senior Local Authority Officers, and partner agencies.
- Share insights and developments on governance challenges and opportunities.
Governor Support & Training
- Enhance the capabilities of governing bodies through targeted advice, training, and best-practice sharing.

Policy Implementation & Compliance
- Ensure alignment between governance practices and council policies, legislation, and safeguarding requirements.
Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
- A relevant qualification at Level 4 or above (e.g., education, social care, child development, or family systems).
- Demonstrated record of continuous professional development.
Expertise
- Strong knowledge of governance, education policy, and safeguarding standards.
- Proficiency in risk management and budgetary governance.
Soft Skills
- , problem-solving, and customer care to deliver outstanding service.
- Ability to drive improvements in governance practices.
Desirable & Preferred Attributes
- Understanding of school management structures.
- Experience in advisory or leadership positions within the education sector.
- Strong ability to simplify complex information for non-specialist audiences.
