Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Team Manager for the Mental Health Liaison Service, Mental Health Urgent Care Hub (incorporating Place of Safety Assessment Unit and Mental Health Response Vehicle) and the Veterans Service.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated leader to oversee the operational and clinical delivery of our CQC-rated Good service across all domains. You will join a supportive, forward-thinking team with a shared commitment to high-quality, person-centred care. This role also offers the chance to influence and develop how the service is delivered across the Leicester and Leicestershire region, working closely with colleagues to shape its future and drive continuous improvement.

  • Operational performance & strategic programme development including:

    • High-quality clinical care
    • Clinical governance
    • Patient safety
    • Clinical quality
    • Delivery of Cost Improvement Programmes (CIPs)
  • Visible leadership – provide accessible clinical and managerial leadership for the team and key stakeholders.

    • Set clear expectations and ensure accountability.
    • Foster a collaborative and person-centred work culture.

Key Responsibilities (Core Duties)

  • Deliver visible, compassionate managerial leadership across all services.
  • Ensure a clinically effective service is provided at all times.
  • Set, monitor, and evaluate performance standards to guarantee high-quality care.
  • Act as an expert resource within the Urgent Care Pathway.
  • Lead change management initiatives while influencing evidence-based service development.
  • Oversee and optimise budget management.
  • Rotate through the On Call Manager Rota to ensure 24/7 operational resilience.

Support & Expectations

  • Must demonstrate experience in multi-agency partnership working and dynamic change environments.
  • Should be pragmatic, well-organised, and proactive in resolving operational issues.
