JOB TITLE: Team Product Owner - Enterprise Risk Management Lab

SALARY: £78,098 - £91,880

LOCATION: Edinburgh

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this Opportunity

As one of the lead Product Owners in the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Lab, the Product Owner will lead the full end-to-end responsibility for one of the ERM products, comprising a single product backlog of 2-3 features, journeys or technology components. They are typically a Lab or Team Lead (containing 2-3 Feature or Component teams), reporting into the Lab Lead.

This role is responsible to lead all aspects of the release of incremental value within an overall product, with the primary aim of delivering value to customers and collaborators by ensuring the team focuses on the right priorities.

Role responsibilities:

  • Supports development of Lab or Team goals and milestones and provides product performance and benefits realisation data
  • Defines user-stories at Lab or Team level to meet customer needs
  • Works with Customer Journey Manager to analyse user stories for customer journey improvements
  • Shapes Product vision and roadmap at Lab or Team level
  • Prioritises, refines and manages Lab or Team Product backlog
  • Accountable for Product change governance (e.g., CMIA / SPFIA) and Business Readiness activities (e.g., training and comms, testing and readiness for implementation) for their respective features, journeys or technology components. Note: PO's are accountable but activities to be delivered by the whole 'team'
  • Plays a role in developing capabilities within their functional area and invests in personal and team growth through mentoring and other informal methods
  • Works with Integrators when change is particularly large

Additional responsibilities for Technical Lab or Team Product Owners:

  • Owns and manages the product backlog for a Group-wide technology asset
  • Develops technical design for the product
  • Delivers against a product budget, performing financial and data analysis
  • Manages all product risk

What you'll need

As a Product Owner in the Enterprise Risk Management Lab, you'll have the opportunity to own one of the lab's key products end-to-end. In practice this involves defining the product with stakeholders, prioritising the product roadmap, designing the product functionality with stakeholders and engineering teams, and managing delivery through your Feature team to live.

  • Extensive experience of strategic delivery, implementing change across multiple BUs and Functions
  • Regular experience of building a product roadmap, defining a target state and the development steps to achieve it
  • Detailed experience of translating customer requirements into technology designs
  • Knowledge of change delivery processes, including tooling (Jira / Jira Align) and service introduction
  • Basic knowledge of Risk Management required
  • Extensive stakeholder skills, evidenced via managing stakeholders at multiple levels, in multiple business areas and building virtual delivery teams
