About The Opportunity

Typical Role Overview
- Location: Manchester, Bristol, London, or nationwide UK
- Type: Contract
- Full-time
- Day Rate: £250–280 per day (or up to £850 per day, dependent on experience and expertise)
- Specialism: APIs, Microservices Architecture
- Required qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
What You Would Do
Typical responsibilities could include:
- Designing and documenting scalable microservices and API-driven architectures
- Collaborating with engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Evaluating technologies and architectural patterns to support system growth and resilience
- Mentoring and advising on technical decisions across workstreams
- Supporting the migration of legacy systems toward modern, distributed architectures
- Contributing to architectural standards and best practices across the organisation
- Working with stakeholders to understand constraints, performance requirements and integration needs

What You Could Bring
Most roles of this type require the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- Proven experience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures
- Strong knowledge of API design, REST principles and event-driven architecture
- Experience with cloud platforms and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes or equivalent)
- Familiarity with architectural patterns, scalability and system design trade-offs
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification or equivalent
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- UK work authorisation
Nice-to-have experience could include:
- Experience in regulated industries or complex distributed systems
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices
- Exposure to emerging architectural patterns or technology trends
