You will be given the opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting projects, using the latest technologies and advancements, and lead a team of developers of varied experience levels.

It's up to you how you split your time - you may spend around half of your time ‘on the tools’, cutting code, and reviewing peers and your teams work, and the rest building the profile of your products internally and externally.

Test the technical feasibility of proposed new products and solutions, with ultimate responsibility for architecting the product or solution. Deliver those products and solutions to a point where they add value to both ANS and our most importantly our customers. Document any products and solutions so they can be used and consumed by customers and any relevant internal users. Provide product or solution specific support, e.g., bugs. This does not include customer specific issues. Ensure products and solutions meet industry best practices, any internal ANS standards, and any regulatory compliance requirements. Ensure security risks are considered, identified, reduced, and mitigated when designing, developing, testing, and implementing new products & services. Assign and track work to the developers and devops engineers you will be working to. Be confident enough to say “I don’t know”; and passionate enough to do something about it. Take responsibility for your technical decision making but know when to delegate and help others take accountability. Know that done is better than perfect.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
