Platform Technical Lead E-care

Role Summary

The Platform Technical Lead provides hands-on technical leadership and governance across a defined platform estate within a strategic partner model.

They are accountable for the technical integrity, resilience, and operational robustness of the platform, acting as the primary technical authority and interface between VMO2 and the Strategic Partner responsible for build and run services.

They ensure all solutions align to VMO2 architecture standards, engineering guardrails, and non-functional requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Governance & Assurance

  • Own and assure end-to-end technical integrity across build and run
  • Review and approve HLDs/LLDs for architectural alignment
  • Enforce engineering standards, NFRs, scalability and resilience requirements
  • Manage technical debt and platform lifecycle governance

Delivery Leadership

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across the delivery lifecycle
  • Act as escalation point for design and delivery blockers
  • Ensure production readiness and operational compliance before go-live
  • Align delivery outputs with platform strategy and roadmap

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee platform health, stability, performance and resilience
  • Provide technical leadership during major incidents
  • Drive improvements in reliability, automation and observability
  • Ensure consistency between build and run in managed service environments

Partner Management

  • Act as primary technical interface to Strategic Partner
  • Challenge and assure delivery quality and engineering practices
  • Escalate technical risks and systemic issues where required

Strategic Input

  • Contribute to platform roadmap and investment decisions
  • Support business cases and cost estimation
  • Identify opportunities for optimisation and modernisation

  • Strong background in commerce / sales platforms
  • Deep experience in microservices and API-driven architectures
  • Hands-on experience with full-stack technologies, including Node.js, Next.js, Storyblok, and cloud-native platforms such as GKE and Cloud Run
  • Proven technical leadership across end-to-end delivery
  • Experience reviewing and assuring designs, estimates and sizing
  • Strong incident and escalation management experience
  • Experience governing production platforms (resilience, performance, lifecycle)
  • Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills
  • Experience in strategic partner / managed service environments (desirable)
