Tech Lead [gn] Feature Team
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tech Lead [gn] Feature Team based in United Kingdom.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technical leader to guide a product-focused engineering team building modern SaaS solutions.
You will combine deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, shaping backend architecture while actively contributing to code delivery.
The role focuses on creating scalable cloud-native systems, improving engineering velocity, and delivering meaningful product outcomes.
You will work closely with engineers and product teams to transform ideas into reliable, high-quality features.
This position is ideal for a builder who enjoys coding, mentoring, and using innovative tools such as AI coding agents to enhance productivity.
You will have ownership over technical execution while helping establish engineering best practices within a collaborative environment.
The role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on product development and team performance.
Accountabilities
- You will lead technical execution within your feature team by combining hands-on engineering, architectural ownership, and team guidance. You will ensure that products are built with scalability, quality, and customer value in mind while supporting engineers in reaching their full potential.
- Write high-quality backend code and take ownership of complex technical challenges.
- Guide the technical direction of the team using modern technologies such as Scala, Python, and TypeScript.
- Design and maintain scalable SaaS architectures built for cloud environments and multi-tenant platforms.
- Use AI coding agents as part of your daily workflow to increase engineering efficiency while maintaining code quality and security standards.
- Promote effective use of AI development tools within the team and support engineers in adopting best practices.
- Own the full lifecycle of team features, from design and implementation through production deployment.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers to understand business goals and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Challenge assumptions, refine requirements, and help create products that deliver strong user value.
- Mentor and support engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and technical guidance.
- Remove technical blockers, improve team velocity, and ensure successful delivery of milestones.
- Monitor production health and ensure systems remain reliable, secure, and efficient.
- Take ownership of technical decisions and continuously improve engineering practices.

Requirements
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced software engineer who combines strong technical expertise with product thinking and leadership capabilities. You should enjoy building systems, solving complex engineering problems, and helping a team deliver exceptional results.
- Extensive experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
- Strong production experience with Scala, with additional experience in Python and/or TypeScript considered a plus.
- Proven experience designing robust backend systems and distributed architectures.
- Advanced experience using AI coding agents in daily development workflows, including effective prompting and critical review of AI-generated code.
- Ability to identify security, performance, and architectural risks in AI-assisted development outputs.
- Strong builder mindset with a passion for writing code and delivering impactful products.
- Strong product empathy and ability to connect technical decisions with customer and business outcomes.
- High ownership mindset with the ability to proactively solve problems and drive results.
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards within a team.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, for effective collaboration with distributed teams.
