Position Overview:
The Technical Administrator will be based at the site laboratory on a project near Carterton, Oxfordshire. The role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, operational support and compliance activities within the laboratory, including inventory management, safety documentation and data recording.
Working closely with the technical and site teams, the role will support the delivery of high standards of quality, safety, and audit readiness, while ensuring organised workflows, effective communication and the efficient operation of the laboratory and office.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until March 2027.
Successful applicants will have to achieve United Kingdom Security Vetting Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) level clearances.
Key Responsibilities
- Data & Records Management: Ensuring accurate recording and storage of technical data, managing documentation for audits, and using software data management systems, preparing reports, presentations, and documentation trackers as required.
- Operations Coordination: Assisting with the co-ordination of laboratory and site testing operations and coordinating staff schedules, training records, accommodation and site vehicles and equipment.
- Inventory & Supplies: Ordering, tracking, and managing laboratory consumables and critical spare inventory.
- Equipment & Facilities: Coordinating, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment in collaboration with suppliers and site operations.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintaining Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Management system documentation relating to laboratory and site technical activities.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Administrative Experience: Proven experience in office administration or technical support roles
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with laboratory environments, safety standards, equipment maintenance and aggregate and asphalt testing is desirable but not essential
- IT Proficiency: Skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and SharePoint
- Organisation: Strong attention to detail for handling sensitive data and maintaining compliance
- Teamwork: Strong team player, forming positive working relationships within the team and with all departments, ability to make informed judgements and decisions and convey these to team, willing to be flexible and adaptable working across all areas of the department
- Personal Development: Self –starter, highly motivated and able to work on own initiative
- Qualifications: A foundation degree, HND, or degree in a related technical subject is desirable but not essential.
