Technical & Advice Documentation Specialist
Our Technical & Advice Documentation Specialist supports the Group's Consumer Duty obligations on two fronts, strengthening the technical suitability of advice and ensuring client-facing documentation is clear, accurate, and supports consumer understanding.
We are looking for a versatile, detail-oriented professional to join the Business Monitoring team in a broad-ranging role that spans both technical advice support and advice documentation and systems. Working alongside the Senior Technical Specialist and the Senior Advice Documentation & Systems Lead, the successful candidate will provide additional capacity across both areas, contributing to technical query support, file review guidance, and the creation and maintenance of key advice documentation within Intelligent Office.
This is an all-rounder role rather than a specialist one, ideally suited to someone with a solid grounding in financial planning who enjoys variety and collaboration across multiple teams — including Financial Planners, Paraplanners, Compliance, Risk, and Operations — and who wants to develop breadth as well as depth in their expertise. You will be motivated, friendly, and professional always and will need the following:
- A practical understanding of financial planning, advice, and the products and services available to clients for wealth, mortgage, and protection needs.
- A good understanding of regulatory requirements, including evidencing Know Your Customer (KYC) through fact finding and articulating advice through suitability reports.
- Experience of analysing technical advice situations and assessing the suitability of proposed advice or recommendations.
- Confidence working with IT systems used in the advice process, such as Intelligent Office and Document Designer, or the aptitude to develop this quickly — alongside proficiency in Excel to record and analyse data.
- A client-centric approach, ensuring both advice and documentation support great client outcomes.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability, with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload across multiple teams, working to tight deadlines when required.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team, engage stakeholders effectively, and provide constructive feedback in a positive manner.
- A keen interest in how technology and AI can shape and evolve Financial Services, particularly in the advice and documentation process.
- A professional, positive 'can-do' attitude and a desire for continuous improvement — with the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in either or both areas of the role over time.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
