Technical Advisor, Mobile Cranes - Biggleswade

Technical Advisor/ Product Support Engineer – Mobile & Cranes Department

About the Role

A vacancy has arisen within Liebherr’s Mobile & Crawler Crane department based in Biggleswade, seeking a Technical Advisor/ Product Support Engineer to play a pivotal role in enhancing after-sales support.

This position contributes to the technical department’s success by:

  • Supporting After-Sales and Sales teams to grow the business while maintaining industry-leading technical support
  • Assisting service engineers and customers with technical information, resources, and resources
  • Delivering effective, efficient advice while maintaining exceptional customer service, administrative, and interpersonal skills
  • Aligning with Company Key Result Areas: Business Performance, Customer Focus, People and Teamwork, Leadership

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Technical Support

  • Provide comprehensive technical support to:
    • Liebherr GB & Liebherr Ireland customers for Mobile & Crawler Cranes
    • Field Service & workshop engineers across the Liebherr Great Britain and Ireland network

Internal Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Work as a key member of the technical team, supporting colleagues across departments (Liebherr GB & Ireland as needed)
  • Foster excellent working relationships to maintain departmental high standards
  • Communicate technical information (including updates from the Liebherr Group factories) to the right stakeholders promptly

Project & Problem Management

  • Manage specific jobs/projects with ownership of their completion
  • Participate in warranty management, liaising with factories & customers for optimal outcomes
  • Brief and deploy engineers efficiently, ensuring optimum competencies/resources are applied
  • Engage in incident/accident investigations (including customer technical issues) and produce clear, high-quality reports for scrutiny

Out-of-Hours & Travel Commitments

  • Available for rota-based out-of-hours call-outs
  • Attend internal and external meetings, exhibitions, and overseas trips, including overnight stays

Essential Profile Requirements

Successful candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship/tree diploma in a related technical/industrial field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electricianship, Crane Operations, or equivalent)
  • Product/industry-specific experience (e.g., heavy machinery, lifts/hoists/cranes, or similar)
  • Strong team player mindset with a collaborative approach
  • Confident, clear communication (across levels of technical expertise)
  • Flexible & adaptable attitude to operational demands
